The Milke Way

“What am I in most people’s eyes? A nonentity or an eccentric and disagreeable man–somebody who has no position in society and never will have, in short, the lowest of the low. Very well, even if this were true, I should want my work to show what is in the heart of such an eccentric, of such a nobody.” Vincent VanGogh

Unnamed two ~ the sequel September 29, 2007

Ok first off, I did end up getting a stupid freaking head/chest cold so I’m feeling bit under the weather today.

However, that didn’t stop me from painting the second piece in my unnamed triangular series.

This second piece is just slightly larger than the first one, measuring about (11.8″ x 0.6”) and again it’s acrylic on canvas. (more…)

Un-named September 28, 2007

Last night I finished one of the triangle canvas’.

I find whenever I finish a piece I just want to toss it in a corner for a few days until we grow on each other and as per the norm such is the case with this one.

I’ve yet to title it, or decide whether or not its going to be number 1 in a series of triangle paintings. (more…)

“God’s art, My photos” (or) “Spiky Terror from above” September 25, 2007

Today was a breezy fall day. . . .

I finished teaching at one of the many elementary schools that I work at.

Enthusiastically waved goodbye to happy little Japanese children and walked towards my car when “it” happened.

The little hill that my car was parked on has trees along both sides and a gorgeous view of the Japanese countryside.

I decided to take a moment and really soak in the beauty of God’s handiwork.

So, I paused on the hill, underneath nice shady trees to admire the golden rice fields and to feel the sun on my face.

Suddenly, a strong gust of fall air caused the trees to sway in the breeze and to release from the grip of their branches “tennis sized balls of spiky terror”.(see note 1) (more…)

New Blog Old Paintings September 24, 2007

I was just browsing through the pictures on my laptop and came across a few old paintings. So, I thought I’d dig them out of the proverbial electronic attic and post them again. All the originals are currently sitting back in Canada most likely collecting dust…*sigh*. So enjoy (or don’t) and feel free to comment. (Oh, and those of you who can’t handle the naked abstract may want to stay clear, *shrugs* suit yourself)

Oh and one more thing, I’ll apologize now for the crappy shots. I took them with an old cheap digital camera so their either glarey from the flash or a bit blurry. I’d take better ones (since we have a kick butt camera now) but like I said, the paintings are sitting in Canada and I’m currently in Japan.

Triangularity September 24, 2007

So we went shopping this weekend and I happened to stumble upon 2 triangle canvases. I’m quite excited. :) The question is what do I paint??? I had thought that I’d go back and buy 4 more the same size and make a hexagon and separate one of the pieces from the other 6 (like a pizza) and call the 6th in circle format “Life” and the separated one “A Slice of Life”. Who says art has to be serious. Then again, that is how we ended up with urinals as works of art :P

*aside* speaking of pizza, did you know Japan is crazy in love with corn and mayo on their pizzas, bleh. To each their own I guess… :P

Pizza Art

Hello! September 22, 2007

I’ve decided to start a blog so I can have another outlet to artistically express myself. I hope to post semi-regularly about paintings, photos and various other things that interest me as well as display some of my own art. I’m also planning to start a mural painting business in the near future so if your looking to have work done email me.

Keep posted and always feel free to comment. ;)
